D. Marcos Bote holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Murcia and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Granada. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and the Director of the Social Assistance Office at the University of Murcia, where he teaches since 2010. He is also a member of the University Institute of Aging Research at the same institution. He is Co-coordinator of the Executive Committee of the Research Network on Aging of the European Sociological Association and the Coordinator of the Sociology of Family Research Committee of the Spanish Federation of Sociology. Additionally, he is a member of the Senior Committee of the Doctoral School of the Federation. His main research interests include health, disability, and aging, as well as the body and sexuality. He has conducted research stays at Surrey University (UK, Marie Curie Fellowship), Portland State University (Oregon, USA, CajaMadrid Foundation Fellowship), and UCLA (California, USA, MEC-Fulbright Fellowship). In 2019, he was awarded a Leonardo Fellowship for researchers and cultural creators by the BBVA Foundation. He has contributed to over 50 publications including articles, books, and book chapters, with contributions in prestigious journals such as Social Science and Medicine, Sociological Research Online, and PlosOne, among others. He has experience in about fifteen research projects and transfer contracts.
