Alejandro Garza attended the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in Monterrey, after which he accepted a swimming scholarship and moved to San Antonio, Texas, to study and compete at Palo Alto College. He later completed his bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees at Texas State University in San Marcos, and also pursued graduate studies at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Higher Education at the University of North Texas, where he conducts research on the impact of study abroad programs on Mexican American male community college students. Alejandro has taught Spanish as a second language in Canada, Spain, Costa Rica, and the United States. Presently, he is an Associate Professor of Spanish at Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, Texas.
