Rebecca S. Borden, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of World Languages Education at the University of Oklahoma’s Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education in the United States. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in second language acquisition, world language pedagogy, and instructional approaches for supporting multilingual learners.
Dr. Borden’s research focuses on language teacher development, teacher beliefs about oral proficiency, and the role of high-leverage practices in world language teacher preparation. Her scholarship includes multiple empirical studies as well as practitioner-oriented publications that integrate research and classroom practice. Through this work, she seeks to strengthen the coherence between teacher education, instructional decision-making, and learner outcomes.
In recognition of her contributions to teaching and mentorship, Dr. Borden received the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education Early Career Faculty Graduate Mentorship Award in 2024 and was nominated for the University of Oklahoma Provost’s Award for Outstanding Engaged Teaching in 2025.
